North County Summer Intern Housing

SDNEDC, the City of Carlsbad, and CSUSM have developed a program to enhance summer internship opportunities for students in North County. Students – whether they are local, from outside the region, CSUSM students or enrolled elsewhere – who wish to undertake an internship with a North County company but are uncertain about their living arrangements are eligible for discounted housing on the CSUSM campus.

This summer, the partners plan to provide interns at North County companies (whether utilizing this housing or other options) with two to three optional “edutainment” programs. The programs will address topics such as the importance of personal networking and best practices from a panel of hiring managers. They will integrate both educational and social elements for participating students.

We are excited about this program. Hiring remains a challenge, and providing North County companies with an internship housing option could be one small way of addressing this need.
