Join three North County Chambers and the San Diego North Economic Development Council on a trip to explore economic growth strategies and address challenges faced by other suburban regions.
Why study other regions?
Learn how another region is addressing issues and opportunities that North County also faces, such as small business support, inclusive economic growth, workforce development, traffic and transportation, homelessness, agrotourism, and other issues important to our region. Bring home valuable insights about new and innovative ways to address North County’s biggest challenges and opportunities. Modeled after successful programs sponsored in other regions, our trip would be comprised of a series of meetings, tours, networking opportunities, and fun!
What does the trip entail?
Lasting between 2 to 3 days, we’ll select from one of the following locations:
- The Suburbs of Seattle (Bellvue, Redmond, Kirkland)
- Austin’s North Side (Round Rock, Tayor, Georgetown)
- Sacramento’s Highway 50 and Apple Hill (Folsom, El Dorado Hillls)
- Denver’s Boulder/Longmont Corridor (Boulder, Longmont, Louisevile)

Sample Itinerary (3 days, 2 nights)
Day 1
- Afternoon – Depart from San Diego International Airport
- Evening – Welcoming reception, dinner, and introductory briefing
Day 2
- Morning – Breakfast and bus travel to first location
- Briefing on small business support system
- Briefing on workforce development and higher education partnerships
- Lunch with regional mayors and economic developers
- Tour and briefing on homelessness and innovative solutions
- Afternoon – On your own
- Evening – Dinner at downtown location
Day 3
- Morning – Breakfast briefing from chamber CEOs – what they are doing to support business in their regions
- Transportation & lunch (agrotourism)
- Afternoon – Transportation to airport & fly home
Estimated Cost
- $2,250 Chamber/SDNEDC Members
- $2,750 non-members
- Includes airfare, 2 night hotel stay, all meals and ground transportation.
