San Diego has experienced continued growth in the Clean Technology sector. The San Diego region is home to 3,300 cleantech companies, supports 40,000 jobs, and has an annual economic impact of $7.1B. Many of these companies are located North of SR 56 – with several involved in new technologies designed to improve water quality, move toward greater electrification of our transportation system, install dramatically more solar energy-producing resources, and use energy and resources much more efficiently.
This industry cluster has given rise to nonprofit organizations, such as Cleantech San Diego, whose mission is to accelerate clean technology innovation and the adoption of sustainable business practices for the benefit of the economy and the environment.
With San Diego’s beautiful natural resources, innovation is imperative to support the growing population while preserving the environment and minimizing future impacts. All of this is being pursued while simultaneously driving the economic growth throughout our region.
